Horseshoe Chair
As a professor at California College of the Arts, I can audit undergraduate coursework. A couple of winters ago I took a course titled “Chair.” During the course of a semester I designed, prototyped and built a singular chair design. Inspired by Danish lines, smooth curvature, and the gentle embrace of my grandfather’s favorite armchair, I designed and built a horseshoe armchair that now sits at the head of our dining table. My niece uses it as a jungle gym, which I take as a compliment.
