Cut flowers
Yesterday I harvested our first calla lily. It marks a tipping point, the moment that our succession of flowers (both wild and cultivated) begin peeking their heads out of their buds. What follows is a season of flowers that spill into our home: single buds on the coffee table; wild, explosive bouquets with nothing in common except their bloom time; bulbous sweeps of hydrangeas in hues of purple and blue.
